Dakota

Hi! I am a one year old Siberian Husky who moved into the Hayosh household on Septemer 21, 1997. I adopted Bob and Brenda 'cause they seemed like good people. Brenda wrote my story. Basically, the my first 11 months were rough, but I am over it! This is me with my tongue hagging out...

You know there are many things to do in life, so you've got to keep moving! I like to dig, so the back yard is a little brown. I don't know why mom says "This lawn looks terrible." Brown is a good color. I also destroyed the screens. I only got to chew about four low voltage lamps before they removed them all. They take all the good stuff out of the backyard!!

Mom and dad play fetch with me! I like that! I love toys and have lots of them. Some toys break so easily, but mom can find the heavy duty ones for me. Kelsey, my canine brother, barks at me when we play fetch. He just won't be quiet!! He is spoiled too!! He gets to spend the days inside. Mom says something about not eating her cats (Calvin and Hobbes). Cats are a delicacy so I don't know what her problem is. Every time I go inside, I can't find those cats, but there are a lot of closed doors in that house! Mom is TRYING to teach me not to pay attention to the cats. I will let you know how that goes.

Kelsey also has a major attitude! When he comes out back he acts all aloof, but still stays around me. I like to bug him by getting in his face. It does not take much to annoy him and he chases me around the yard. It is a great yard for running!

We have three labs for neighbors, I love to run back and forth along the fence with them. Those dogs bark. If they were quiet like me, our parents would let us play more! We dig together! I dug all the way under so I could go play with them in their backyard. Mom and dad then put up 2 or 3 layers of bricks so I couldn't dig under. I just knock the bricks down.

Here is a list of my successfully escapes:

  1. November 1997: Figured out how to open the gate. (It is locked now)
  2. December 1997: Dug under the fence into the neighbors yard. (Now there is a brick wall)
  3. December 29, 1997: Found a loose board in the fence and moved it aside. (They stacked up wood around the loose board)
  4. December 30, 1997: Got out and it took dad an hour to find me, but I won't tell how I got out.
  5. January 1, 1998: Knocked down the wood to get through the loose board in the fence. (They placed the grill in front on the hole)
  6. January 9, 1998: Went through the loose board in the fence again. (They finally put up a new board and fixed any other boards starting to get loose)
  7. January 24, 1998: Broke the gate boards and sqeezed out. (They replace 2 boards and added a latch to the bottom of the gate, now I can't push the bottom out!)
  8. January 31, 1998: Knocked down the bricks, broke 3 boards, and dug under the fence into the neighbors yard.
  9. Feburary 4, 1998: Got out but I won't tell how I got out.

I must say dad is the best. He takes me on a 4 mile walk every day, even in the rain. I think I found myself some good people! Now I need a playful canine brother or sister.
